Strangely enough, it seems that the scout.com message board is down on one of the biggest days of the year and it may have been down for a whole day now.
Strange.
If you spend any amount of time on the BlueGoldNews.com message boards, you’ll find this funny.
I almost go to BGN, am an addict and have been a premium member there off and on for years. This is in no way derogatory toward that site. They do a great job and your money wouldn’t be wasted joining up with them.
That being said, if you have been there at all, once again, this is really funny.
This was something we used as a message board sig at BlueGoldNews.com and we’ve seen it popping up around the web and one facebook.
Here is a slightly cleaner, higher res version. The one we’ve seen floating around is pretty poor quality and pixelated, so download this one and use it instead.
Afte rall, we’re all thankful we’re Mountaineers.
For weeks Mountaineer fans have writhed in agony as rumors have swirled and inside sources who refused to be named allegedly leaked info.
Two weeks ago WVU was the 14th team in the SEC.
This week we’ve seen an about face and seen WVU’s apparent destination named as the Big 12.
Multiple media sources are reporting the Mountaineers are B12 bound.
Anytime there is change in anything, there are mixed emotions. The fanbase seems excited, with a few holding back their excitement for several reason.
The biggest issue is distance. By distance, it’s not the miles themselves, but the miles between guaranteed games and the traditional rivals we have always (at least in recent memory) known.
There is talk of keeping the Backyard Brawl alive in a non conference setting, but there are no guarantees that will happen. Other than that, our next closest foe is in Iowa at this point. The addition of Louisville to the Big 12 would ease this concern a little (and intensify our rivalry with The Ville). Whether or not they will be added is up in the air.
In this siutation, the pros outwigh the cons.
There is NO DOUBT that the football side of the Big East conference is a sinking ship thanks to Pitt and Syracuse. It was time for us to go, and the Big 12 is probably our best option.
Yearly games against Texas and Oklahoma, while a daunting task that may come with a sharp learning curve, is exciting. Possibly on alternating years, we’ll have one of the two at Mountaineer Field. LSU this year was insane, we should recreate that multiple times each year. In fact, if I have to choose, I’d be more excited to play a middle-of-the-pack Baylor team than a middle-of-the-pack UConn team in the Big East.
This is a win/win for the Mountaineers and the WVU nation should rejoice.
Pictures have surfaced of outgoing senior WVU basketball players Joe Mazzulla and John Flowers getting fitted with WVU tattoos, showing their bond with the school and the people of our great state no doubt.
It never ceases to amaze that we have kids come in, get acclimated, and adopt WVU as their home away from home. Flowers hails from Waldorf, Maryland and Mazzulla is originally from Rhode Island.
Check out their tats (via twitter – @jflow41, @jmazzulla21)

Brian Bennett is touring spring practices in the Big East, a really rough job that most of us would love to have. He has three good updates/ videos from Morgantown posted on April 7.
